Saturday 27th August, 2011
Once again athletes travelled to the North East for the annual Tartan
Games, staged at the impressive Gateshead International Stadium.
70 athletes from CP Sport combined with a large Scottish team contested
the competition alongside non-disabled athletes, the atmosphere and organisation was key to
a very enjoyable completion for all athletes.
As always we were made most welcome and our appreciation goes to
Ros Miller, Janice Kaufman and Gateshead Harriers for all their hard work and preparation of
the event.
As this was the final grand prix event of the season, performances were

athletes were very tight.

extremely positive, I would like to add it was great to see some old friends
from north of the border and some new Scottish athletes who could be quite

avoid for next year's competition.
Four new national records were established, a full list can be found on the

Saturday 21st May, 2011
Bathed in sunshine, Perivale athletic track was the venue for the first
cerebral palsy grand prix competition of the season, the competition was
also a joint event incorporating the South East Regional Championships.
The competition attracted 94 athletes who travelled from all corners of the
country to compete, some with an eye on the London 2012 qualifying times and distances, others hoping

CP Sport Festival of Sport Athletics Competition 2010
On July 17th the athletics competition which was part of the Festival of Sport took
place at Harvey Hadden Stadium, Nottingham. The competition had a different format to our other CP Sport Athletics
Competitions. The athletes were put into teams of 7 athletes and all gained points for their team. The points were
awarded dependent on each athlete's improvement on their personal best. The teams were mixed ability and it provided
a different interest for the day.
The top three teams received medals, and trophies were awarded to the winning team.
Athletes were also striving to break records. Six national age group records were broken.
Seventy athletes took part in the event and we were pleased to welcome a team from Ireland.
This was an event for developing athletes although some of our elite athletes also competed.
Half the athletes competing were under 19.
CP Sport was very fortunate to have many of the top officials in the country officiating at this
event. These officials are very loyal to CP Sport and their commitment is much appreciated.
Many athletes commented on the format of the competition and said they would like to see the
event become a regular one in the athletics calendar.
CP Sport would like to thank the sponsors of the event.

The 4th Grand Prix was held at Harvey Hadden, Nottingham on
Saturday July 3rd. Unfortunately it was the same day as the DSE Junior Athletics in Blackpool, several
of our regular junior athletes were missing. However, as it was an IPC sanctioned meeting several elite athletes,
who are aiming to get qualifying times and distances for the World Championships in New Zealand in January attended.
There were over a hundred competitors and we were pleased to welcome a team from Spain.
It was a very busy day, especially on the field. The officials worked very hard with very few
breaks. CP Sport is so grateful to the commitment shown by the Officials to CP Sport events.
It was a successful day for the athletes with many personal bests being achieved, qualifying
standards reached and and eight CP Sport national records being broken.

There was an excellent turn out of athletes and supportive families for our first visit to
Bath University.
Over eighty athletes competed from several impairment groups as well as people with
cerebral palsy. There were many
junior athletes from the south west competing for the first time It was great to see everyone mixing together and
the senior athletes giving advice and encouragement to the less experienced.
Several athletes had found CP Sport through our web site, some through England Athletics'
Playground to Podium Days and some through main stream clubs. A third of the athletes taking part were under 19.
It was a real family occasion and the spectators made the most of the lovely venue, having
picnics, chatting with each other, sitting on the grass and watching from the stand. These events are always a
wonderful opportunity for families to share experiences and contacts.
