CP Sport -> Fundraising -> Activity 4 Charity

Activity 4 Charity

6 weeks to change your life and the lives of disabled children

Activity 4 Charity is an exciting new way for you to increase your physical activity and improve your fitness around your daily schedule at the same as raising funds for CP Sport.

It is a six week challenge where you walk, run or cycle to achieve 10,000 steps per day, the equivalent to 200 miles! Or if you don't fancy any of those activities you can choose another – Zumba, rowing, aerobics and even gardening, because a clever USB pedometer translates any activity into steps. The only thing it can't measure is swimming as it's not waterproof, but don't worry, the lovely Activity 4 Charity team will do the calculation of lengths into steps for you. You choose what activity you do and when, making it perfect for people of any ability and fitness level. You don't have to be a sports enthusiast so it's also ideal for those of us who don't fancy doing an endurance event or who want to get in shape and into the habit of regular exercise in a way that fits around our hectic lives.

The first challenge, "Harness the inspiration of 2012" starts on 30th January and runs for 6 weeks and we'd love you to join the first ever CP Sport Activity 4 Charity team. There are only 500 places for this exciting new initiative, so sign up now so you don't miss out on the first event of its kind.

Here's how it works:

  • When you sign up you will be given a high accuracy pedometer to wear or carry, which has a USB port to allow the data to be uploaded via a PC to your own challenge and fundraising website account.
  • You are given daily activity targets and can track your performance on the website with some simple and interesting charts.
  • Everyone agrees to raise at least £100 for CP Sport.
  • Sponsorship can come either from your employer or from friends and family, who pledge a donation that is based on the amount of activity you manage to do.
  • You can form teams and arrange to get together for team walks and group events.
  • There are individual and team leader boards if you are more competitive and a personal challenge to walk 200 miles in 6 weeks.
  • The scheme is fun and engaging and gives you tips on how to make small changes to your lifestyle to make it more active and healthy.

Activity 4 Charity is also an ideal fundraising challenge for businesses:

  • The scheme is engaging, great for team building and improves employee health and wellbeing.
  • The scheme is very inclusive, so participation is high - it's a great way to pull a new team together or re-energize the workforce.
  • It connects employee engagement with corporate social responsibility (CSR) - employees feel involved in charity and community related activities and see first hand the good CSR work the employer is doing.
  • Employees in remote locations can be involved and feel more part of the team.

For individuals, it costs £39.80 per person to register. You will receive a free USB pedometer and 3 months access to the online challenge community and ongoing motivational and fundraising support from the Activity 4 Charity team. You'll also receive a free CP Sport t-shirt and fundraising advice and support from the fundraising team here at CP Sport.

If you're an individual, please sign up by visiting the Activity 4 Charity website and be sure to choose CP Sport as your nominated charity when prompted.

If you'd like to enter as a corporate team or a team of family and/or friends it costs £175 per team of 5 (excluding VAT and P&P). If you'd like to enter as a team at work or as a family, please email seema.bennett@mmvsense.com and she will get you all signed up and ready to go.

If you like any more information about the challenge, have a look at www.activity4charity.co.uk or get in touch with Jo on 0115 925 2620 or jmathieson@cpsport.org.
