Adam and Caroline

Adam Bourke
"Adam had a brain tumour removed when he was 1, and has epilepsy and autism as well as
learning difficulties. He has, in the past, gained a gold medal at the Special Olympics for running the 800m.
Adam has dozens of medals for running races in the 18 years he has been running. He started aged about 12,
running with his little dog, Lady, and celebrated his 30th birthday the day before the Lincoln 10K race.
He belongs to the Lincoln Wellington Athletics Club who he trains with twice a week. At weekends he runs around
his home town of Horncastle. One of his best friends has Cerebral Palsy, so we thought it would be nice to raise
some money for a very good cause."

"I had a fantastic day and was so proud to wear your race shirt and raise £500 for you.
Last September I was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve and sometimes I struggled while getting back to full fitness
to run this race. All through the winter, thoughts of my nephew Oscar (aged 1, has cerebral palsy) gave me the
determination to keep going with my training. When I saw you were the main charity at this year's event I was
desperate to raise money for you and I had to ask my doctor if I could run. Thankfully she said yes! Run I did,
as you know, and I finished in 50 minutes and 32 seconds. May I take this chance to thank all of you for the
fantastic work you do and also thank you for all your support."
