The ‘Muddy Ruckers’ run in Cranford Junior Iron Run for CP Sport

IMG_6788On Saturday 14th May, 17 members of the Kettering Rugby Club U10s “ran” the Cranford Junior Iron Run, in aid of Cerebral Palsy Sport and another great cause, the Seb Goold Trust.

Known as the “Muddy Ruckers”, the boys and girl braved freezing water, obstacles, swamps and mud to complete the 3km course together.  Fortunately for everyone watching, it was a glorious sunny day but this made no difference to any of the children finishing the course, who ploughed on and successfully finished the course without losing a single running shoe!

The Muddy Ruckers have raised almost £800 and with matched funding from Barclays Bank, CP Sport will receive £800, whilst the Seb Goold Trust will benefit to the tune of £400.  Perhaps more importantly, the awareness of the work that CP Sport does has been highlighted amongst the children, friends and family supporting the team.

One of the team, Ben Bowman afterwards said “It was great fun doing the Iron Run and the best bit was the swamp.  Although we had a really fun time, we do know that we are lucky to be able to do this and that’s why we wanted to help the two charities”.
