TopBeer Crew raise £2,500!

A very special Thank You to the ‘TopBeer Crew’ who have completed their year-long fundraising activities and smashed their target to raise £2,500 for CP Sport

“We have loved every moment of raising this having far exceed our original target. But it wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful generosity that has been shown by those around us”

The TopBeer Crew are: Kev Redmond, Tony Sault and Stu Telford (The Swig)

In August 2016, The TopBeer Crew decided that it would be a great idea to stage events over the coming year to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy Sport and after setting themselves a target of £1,000, they set about planning for the coming year with the following events:

Car Boot

Two early Sunday mornings, with a car loaded full of offerings, saw the first donations coming in.

Bowls

A bright sunny Sunday afternoon, saw them take to the park for an afternoon of Bowls. A doubles competition went ahead, pitching a bowler with a non-bowler together, with the bowler having to use his non bowling arm! A great afternoon was had by all, before everyone ventured back into the club house for the presentation and some fun and games with Play Your Cards Right and Bingo, and not forgetting a few ales.

Quiz Nights

Two charity quiz nights were organised for the month of October. These were great fun, following the usual format of the monthly quizzes put on by the TopBeer Crew, along with some added extras such as Play Your Cards Right.

Rhythm n Booze Night

A quality night of music was to be had as the artists Planet Rock UK and Skye Hadley took to the stage to deliver a night of cracking hits, even doubling up at the end to perform several songs together. With a range of ales’ on offer the place was set. A raffle was held with the top prizes being two signed CDs by UB40, presented by Astro himself.

Charity Raffle & Auction

The biggest event to date, and the one that took a lot of organising was the Charity Raffle and Auction. The idea behind it was to get as many local businesses to donate something/anything for us to raffle or auction. Countless emails and letters were sent and phone calls were made, but the response we got was amazing. The event was held over May bank holiday weekend, deciding to piggy back on the back of the beer festival at the Swan, Halesowen. With the beer flowing, live music playing and the party mode in full swing, we took to the stage during the bands interval, and the generosity of the festival goers was amazing.

Fun Run

Also, we enlisted the help of Darren Redmond, who teamed up with us to help support our campaign. His contribution was to run the Wheaton Aston 10km on the 27th December, fully kitted out in a snug-fitting Abba outfit.

Across the year of activities the TopBeer Crew exceeded their target and raised an amazing £2,500
