Cerebral Palsy Sport are pleased to announced a brand new adapted sports taster session.
RaceRunning and Frame Football will be the sports on offer at this unique event. Cerebral Palsy Sport have been working with CP Teens and the Sheffield FA to host this taster session on the 28th January 2017 at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. This opportunity is for current and new participants to come and have a go at either or both adapted sports.
Rachel Ward, National Athletics Officer from CP Sport said,
‘Its great to be joining forces with CP Teens UK to provide more people with the opportunity to try RaceRunning and increase numbers at their regular session. To be able to combine this with another of our increasingly popular adapted sports, Frame Football, will hopefully attract more people to come along to the day’.
Participants will be able to try both sports or focus on one.
RaceRunning is a new sport, developed by Cerebral Palsy Sport. It is for children, young people and adults who cannot functionally run and rely on sports aids for mobility and balance. RaceRunning is a three wheeled frame where the athlete is supported by a saddle and body plate. The athlete propels against the frame using their feet, and steers using the mobility within their hands and/or arms. For further information please click here.
Cerebral Palsy Sport have designed, developed and trialled Frame Football with lots of feedback from coaches, equipment specialists, physiotherapists, parents and the players themselves to create a truly player centred football opportunity. Supported by the Football Association’s Disability Committee as a grassroots development programme, Frame Football is already gaining recognition as an inclusive adapted sport. Sam Turner, our National Football Officer is working closely with Sheffield and Hallamshire FA with the aim to create a regular session following the event. The Cost of the event is £5 for CP Sport full -members or £7.50 affiliate members or non-members. The entry fee covers either or both sports. For age 5 and upwards. Time: 1-4pm.
