CP United victorious again!

On Saturday 20th May, the Cerebral Palsy Sport National CP Football League finals took place at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham.

The finals came just two weeks after the FA Disability Cup finals which saw CP League Northern Conference winners CP United defeat Southern Conference winners Chelsea Whites. Both teams were in action again in Nottingham on Saturday along with the rest of the very best cerebral palsy football teams in the country to battle for the top spot.

The level of professionalism and quality of football was excellent and the many spectators who braved the showers were treated to a day packed with exciting matches the top class brand new sports venue.

The event started with two group rounds, Group A featuring Chelsea Whites, Copmanthorpe, Albion in the community, Riverside CP FC, and Group B featuring CP United Seniors, Chelsea Blues, Disability4Sport and South West CP.

In the semi-finals, Group A winner Copmanthorpe defeated Group B runner up Disability4Sport. Group B winner CP United beat Group A runner up Riverside.

The final saw Yorkshire team Copmanthorpe play Manchester based CP United, in which CP United were victorious with a 4-0 scoreline. Its been a fantastic year for the team once again which includes Cerebral Palsy Sport Young Ambassador Ben Meadows as goalkeeper.

A huge thank you to the University of Nottingham Sport for all their support as well as all of our officials and volunteers on the day. The University also hosted a free Fustsal event for juniors whilst the finals were taking place encouraging even more youngsters into sport.
