Cerebral Palsy Sport sees engagement with our members as a vital role.
A new part time engagement officer has joined the team now.
Sandy Drummond will take a lead in working more closely with our members and partners to ensure that Cerebral Palsy Sport truly reflect the needs and wants of children, young people and their families.
Sandy introduces herself:
“Hello, my name is Sandy Drummond and I am very pleased to be joining the team at Cerebral Palsy Sport as the National Disability Sport Engagement Officer.
Awareness, interest and opportunities in disability sport have seen a huge increase over recent years, and the clear social and health benefits are attracting new enquiries from interested participants, families, coaches and sport providers. CP Sport already offer a number of introductory adapted sport events such as Frame Football and Table Cricket and run competitions nationally helping hundreds of children and adults with Cerebral Palsy experience life changing benefits. Additionally, CP Sport works closely with a range of partners including; county sport partnerships, sports governing bodies and other organisations to help meet the demands for access to sport.
My role will include providing information and opportunities for those who would like to get involved in sport at any level, and also support sport providers to be able to accommodate and understand the needs of people with cerebral palsy and physical disabilities.
As a qualified tennis coach I have had first-hand experience of working with players with disabilities, and I also worked for the Tennis Foundation who provide access into tennis for disabled participants of all levels. More recently I have worked in sport management which included representing Paralympic athletes. As a regular sports participant myself I truly believe sport can provide many life skills, social opportunities, health benefits and enjoyment for all.
I am looking forward to working with the team at CP Sport and all their partners, and ultimately helping more people to Play, Participate and Enjoy sport.”
