London Marathon 2019
London Marathon 2019
The Virgin Money London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet – runners have raised more than £890 million for good causes since the race began in 1981. If you’d like to get involved and run for charity, here’s how:
Guaranteed Charity Places
Cerebral Palsy Sport will have a number of guaranteed places for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon Silver Bond scheme.
To find out more about how you can secure one of these places, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and an application form.
We will require your completed application form and a deposit of £100 before 15th January 2019 to secure your place for 2019 and help make a difference to the lives of people with cerebral palsy through sport.
Running for Cerebral Palsy Sport with your ballot place
If you secure a place for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon by entering the ballot when it closes and you’re interested in running the race to raise money for charity, why not run for us?
You can make your marathon experience even more rewarding by raising funds to help more children, young people and adults with cerebral palsy access sport.
You don’t need to raise massive amounts for us to feel the benefit, and you’re guaranteed to meet loads of great new people along the way.
Reasons to run for us
- Purpose and motivation
Raising money for Cerebral Palsy Sport can give purpose to running the Virgin Money London Marathon and serve as a goal to work towards. If you’re running just for the sake of it, you may start to doubt yourself and feel tempted to give up when the going gets tough. You’ll be more inclined to get up and go training in the cold, wet winter months when you know you’re supporting a good cause.
- Keep it personal
Remember, when you run for Cerebral Palsy Sport, you are helping real people and changing lives. Why not run for a charity that makes such a difference to people’s lives?
- You can make a difference
By using your ballot place to run for charity, Cerebral Palsy Sport benefits from all of the funds you raise and won’t have to spend anything on your place. However much you raise, your contribution will make a massive difference to our charity and the people we support.
- Raising Awareness
As well as raising money, running for Cerebral Palsy Sport can help raise awareness. You’ll be seen by hundreds of people wearing our charity’s logo on race day, and everyone who sponsors you will learn more about our charity and the great work we do. Charities rely on this kind of public exposure to build a good reputation and encourage people to donate. If you’d be interested in using your place in the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise money for charity, please email email@example.com
As a single-day charity fundraising event, there is no race in the world that comes close to the Virgin Money London Marathon and it’s estimated that more than three quarters of participants now run for a good cause.
Some helpful tips to get you started on your fundraising journey:
- Set-up a Virgin Money Giving fundraising page early:
Those who set-up a fundraising page as soon as they receive their Virgin Money London Marathon place, on average raise up to £700 more than those who only start to fundraise in the two-month period before the race in April.
- Set a fundraising target:
81 per cent of fundraisers set a target and those who do raise on average £1,495, compared to an average of £914 raised by those who leave their goal unspecified – a 64% increase.
- Are social media-savvy:
The use of social media channels offers a great opportunity to maximise fundraising potential. Those who don’t use this medium raise on average £1,276, compared to averages of over £1,900 through the use of Instagram and Linkedin, over £1,500 using Twitter, and over £1,400 via Facebook.
- Use the Virgin Money Giving mobile app:
Embracing fundraising on-the-move, those who download the Virgin Money Giving app raise on average 19 per cent more than those who do not.
Get the Gift Aid
When friends and family sponsor you, extra money can be added to their donations as Gift Aid if they’re UK tax payers. This won’t cost them any more because Gift Aid is reclaimed from the Government, but Cerebral Palsy Sport will certainly appreciate the difference.
