Barry has been volunteering for CP Sport since 2008, he gives a few days each month to place and manage collection tins in shops and businesses in his area.
He first got involved with CP Sport via the Olympic Gamesmaker website – when he registered to volunteer for London 2012 they suggested several charities that he could volunteer to help prior to the Olympics and CP sport was listed and he has been involved ever since.
His role includes placing the boxes and meeting new people; collecting the boxes and building up a repartee with the shopkeepers etc; as well as counting the money (although he hasn’t counted a penny himself – that job has steadfastly been done by his partner Sally!)
Barry’s organisation skills are hugely valuable to us, he keeps accurate records or locations and income and has developed a rotation system for collection dates.
When asked what motivates him to volunteer for CP Sport, Barry simply says; “Helping to make a small difference to others lives who are not as fortunate as myself.”
Thank you for your continued hard work Barry!
