Table Cricket Development Programme

Table Cricket

Here's a quick look at some of the projects that are currently working on.

Skill Awards

A new scheme has been devised to test and reward Table Cricket players of all levels within their cricketing groups.

Increasing participation at all levels

A key part of the Table Cricket development programme is to increase participation levels for all players with various avenues open to get them playing, and defined pathways to move from recreational play to the heights of the Lord's Final.

Young Leaders Awards

Another development strand will be the Young Leaders Award, where more students will be introduced to the game and participating schools will host festivals/competitions to ensure that the skills gained are used in a tangible and constructive way for the schools locally, but also to assist in increasing participation across the country.

Teacher/Coach Training Days

A new Table Cricket Tutor Training programme will provide trained tutors to deliver training days for teachers/coaches/volunteers across the country in order to significantly increase the number of trained coaches to provide support to schools and clubs who share a passion for the sport. Why not get a group of interested sports development staff and volunteers together and put together your own local coaching course?

TC

An educational character - called TC - has been created to raise the Table Cricket profile for younger members of the target audience and encourage their participation in the Skill Awards, where TC will appear throughout. The introduction of TC also opens up lots of new potential avenues of future development for the Table Cricket programme.

In order to take Table Cricket forward, CP Sport need to create a clearly defined structure so that people are working together to establish teams, clubs and competitions. Apart from producing this Handbook and a Training Course Manual, there is a need to introduce schemes that will provide qualifications for coaches, umpires, officials and young leaders. There's still a massive job to be done across the country to organise 'taster' sessions, training events and enlist volunteers to build upon the excellent work that is already taking place within schools and County Boards... but Table Cricket is here to stay.
