The FA Disability Cup was held at St George’s Park on 16th and 17th June 2018 and hosted five finals across disability football including Cerebral Palsy, Amputee, Blind, Deaf and Powerchair football. Within CP football the final was between the winners of the Northern Conference, NE & Yorkshire Disability FC and Chelsea Blues, the winners of the Southern Conference. The game was fast paced and NE & Yorkshire came out on top with a 2-0 victory.
This was the first time that North East and Yorkshire Disability have qualified for the FA Disability Cup. Over the past three years they have worked tirelessly to attract new players, and develop the ability and skill of the players. The club is now in a strong position with junior teams in place to continue to bring through more talented CP footballers.
Chelsea Blues fought hard in the final, having qualified for the FA Disability Cup for the previous three years. The club offer a well-established and flourishing CP programme for players of all abilities, providing a challenging and rewarding environment in which players have the opportunity to take part in competitive CP football.
