To celebrate one year to go to the Opening Ceremony of the Nottingham 2015 CPISRA World Games, Cerebral Palsy (CP) Sport England and Wales are launching the Games Starters Volunteer Application Programme. Following the success of other international sporting events, where the volunteers played such a vital role in its success, we hope this volunteering opportunity will generate an excellent response.
The Nottingham 2015 CPISRA World Games Volunteering Programme, delivered in partnership with Championing Notts Sports Volunteering and Lions Clubs International, Multiple District 105 British Isles and Ireland, will take place in the heart of the historic city of Nottingham, between 6 and 16 August 2015. The majority of the competition will take place at Nottingham City Council’s new iconic Harvey Hadden Sports Complex and will be the first major sporting event to be held there after it reopens in spring/summer 2015.
Ali Talbot Chief Executive of Cerebral Palsy Sport said, “These Games will be a wonderful event which we hope will inspire young people with cerebral palsy to get involved in sport. It will be our Games Starters who will help make these Games a wonderful experience for everyone involved, from the athletes through to the spectators.”
“We are delighted to use this historic moment, with one year to go, to launch the Games Starters Volunteering Programme and invite people to apply to volunteer. There are so many ways in which people can get involved and help make these Games fantastic.”
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said: “It’s great news that the Nottingham 2015 CPISRA World Games are returning to Nottingham and we know the redeveloped Harvey Hadden Sports Complex will be the ideal venue for the sports they are hosting. We hope Nottingham residents will be keen to take up this opportunity to become Games Starters in their own city.”
Leon Taylor, Paralympian and Sporting Ambassador for Cerebral Palsy Sport added, “We are delighted to use this historic moment, with one year to go, to launch the Games Starters Volunteering Programme. As an athlete who’s directly benefitted from the wonderful work volunteers carry out, the role the Games Starters will deliver will be invaluable. There are so many ways in which people can get involved and help make these Games fantastic.”
