Swimming teaching advice
The Swimming Teacher’s Association have always recognised that swimming for enjoyment and achievement should be made available to everyone, regardless of age or ability. It is important to ensure progression is rewarded, providing confidence and self-esteem to all participants. To make your lessons inclusive, use appropriate teaching methods and aids to ensure fun, safe, and progressive lessons e.g. sensory aids, use of assistants, engaging lesson ideas, empathy, and patience. Ensure to understand the different types of disabilities and their effect on learning to swim.
