For developing swimmers, who have some experience of the aquatic environment, we operate a programme of Development Galas that offer an excellent introduction to competitive swimming. The galas are friendly, supportive and realistic with a starter, timekeepers, heats and staggered timed finals. A swimmer can be accompanied by a parent or enabler in the water – and floatation equipment is permitted.
The aim is to provide swimmers with the opportunity to socialise with other swimmers with cerebral palsy, experience the excitement of competitive swimming and test their new skills without the formal structure of club events. Races take place over 10, 25, and 50 metres using a variety of strokes.
Medals are awarded to the first three swimmers in each final and all swimmer receive a certificate of participation.
We run development galas throughout the year, please see the Events page for information about the next Development Galas.
If you cannot find an event near you or your club would like to host a gala, please email Jen Basford, National Sports Development Officer via Jennifer.email@example.com
