Joe – My Fundraising Story
Joe Yates – 100 Mile Mountain Bike Challenge
At 8 am on the morning of 9th July 2016, on a cold, wet, windy Cannock Chase, 15 year old Joe Yates embarked on an epic 100 mile mountain bike ride to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy Sport.
He was joined for part of the ride by friends and family but this was really a supreme solo effort by Joe. With the unkind weather Joe’s sprits were low at the start of the ride but his determination and the support he received saw him through this difficult patch and, as the weather improved, he began to enjoy the ride.
Joe had originally expected to average 8 to 10 mph for the whole ride but, with careful preparation and plenty of water and correct eating, he managed to average 12.5 mph finishing the ride in just under 8 hours.
Joe had started with a fundraising target of £1,000 but thanks to his remarkable effort, he managed to raise over £1,300
We would like to thank Joe for his tremendous achievement and for his fantastic support of Cerebral Palsy Sport.
